Sufferfest Blog

The easiest way for YOU to support women’s cycling.

A painful truth about women’s pro cycling is that articles about women get a mere fraction of the page views that men’s cycling gets. And because page views drive advertising, media websites (cycling included), are reluctant to dedicate resources to women’s racing. SO! The very best way that you, dear cycling fan, can support women’s cycling is to click online articles about women’s cycling. – When you do that, you create page views for the publishing website. – When there are more page views, the publishing website can sell more advertising. – When they sell more advertising like this, they

Chrysalis as an ALL BIKE workout.

Although it’s designed as a run/bike brick workout for triathletes, our Chrysalis video is also great as a BIKE ONLY session. By turning Chrysalis into a 4x 9:00 set of threshold intervals, you’ve got yourself a very effective Time Trial workout. And you get to watch triathletes suffer for a change. Here’s how to do Chrysalis as a bike-only workout: – The opening credits should be on the bike at 4/10 – The run warm-up should be at 5/10 – The bike warm-up should be as designed – First transition should be at 6/10 – Then all Bike sections should

Tour of Sufferlandria — Thank you.

My dear Sufferlandrians, That. Was. EPIC. 10 days ago, we set off across our beloved country. We did so from countless (well, ok, you could count them, but countless sounds a lot better) locations around the world – gyms, studios, living rooms, sheds, garages and a few offices. More than 2,300 lined up for the first stage, determined to fight for HONOUR, GLORY and VICTORY. Over 9 days, we struggled together, we ATTACKED together, we ate everything in the house together and we occasionally heard the siren song of Couchlandria in our darker moments (BUT WE RESISTED THAT CALL WE

How to use our ‘Chrysalis’ video without a treadmill

Our video, Chrysalis, is meant to be done with a stationary bike and a treadmill. However, not everybody has a treadmill at home or can make it to a gym with the equipment. Although it’s not the optimal experience, you can still do Chrysalis without a treadmill. It’ll likely take a few tries for you to perfect it, but here is how to do it: – Have the video on a small portable device like a smart phone with headphones so you can take the video with you when you run. If you can’t do that, make sure you head

Tour of Sufferlandria – Stage 9: Recap & Photos

Drama. That was the order of the day for the last stage of the Tour of Sufferlandria. Behind on GC, our Sufferlandrian had little choice but to WIN EVERY SINGLE ONE of the 64 (!) sprints on offer today. The time bonuses won would be enough to catapult our hero into the Leader’s Straight Jacket and into the STORIES THAT WILL BE TOLD GENERATIONS FROM NOW. And even with 8 days of PAIN, AGONY and MISERY (and a few visits from DESPAIR) in the legs,  the Sufferlandrian would not be denied this opportunity for HONOUR and GLORY.Take inspiration from these

Tour of Sufferlandria – Stage 8: Recap & Photos

After taking a battering in a 7th stage that will go down in history as being one EPIC MOTHER F&^%ER of a Stage, tensions were high amongst the riders. The aggression even spilled over into Twitter… But, come morning, the peloton rolled out of the start of Stage 8 (Blender) with a new peculiar, new-found confidence. Some riders even brought in reinforcements to their teams… Ahead lay nearly two hours of Pain Shakes, Minion Grinders and of course, PAIN, AGONY and MISERY! The question on everyone’s mind was… Coach Neal Henderson, the evil mastermind behind the design of Stage 8,

Tour of Sufferlandria – Stage 7: Recap & Photos

No words can describe the PAIN, AGONY and MISERY witnessed by the Nation tonight. Tremendous displays of COURAGE, quickly followed by bouts of DESPAIR which were swept away by flashes of COURAGE and then washed through with DESPAIR and then pushed aside again by COURAGE and then….well, then that fourth climb began and….well, anyway, they will never be forgotten. For now, we will let the pictures do the talking of the carnage witnessed on the Greatest Ever Stage of the Greatest Grand Tour of a Mythical Country. Until the next one, that is.
