At Sufferfest Studios, I make the hardest, most exciting, most get-on-your-bike-and-suffer-your-ass-off cycling training videos in the world. Our videos are the only ones to feature officially licensed footage from professional race organisers like the ASO and the UCI, brilliant, hand-picked music, and structured workouts that you simply need to follow (if you can).

Now, how did we get here? A couple of years ago, when I  training  for a charity bike ride across Tibet and Nepal, I started looking for cycling workouts I could listen to on my iPod. I couldn’t find anything I liked. It was either some hyped up fitness instructor doing a mix of spiritual and physical spin training, or a cycling coach who bored me to tears with 20 minute time trial efforts (on the road, that’s fine, on a spinbike, it’s hell). Wasn’t there anything out there that was meant for serious cyclists, but that was also fun?

In the end, I started writing down my own workouts and taking them with me to the gym. I’d write them on a piece of paper and lay them on the floor next to the bike. Then I’d put on the headphones and try to find the right music to go with the workout. You might have done the same. But it wasn’t enough to get me really *excited* about being on an indoor bike…

…then it hit me…back when I was a teenager, my brother Dan and I used to watch Tour de France videos we had recorded while sitting on the turbo trainer. We used to pretend we were sprinting along with Van Poppel, or climbing with Hampsten. I started working with that idea and begin downloading old cycling videos from YouTube..if I could arrange clips from those races into workouts, then that would be all the motivation I would need!

Bam. The Sufferfest was born.

Oh. I live in Singapore (but I’m American) with my wife (who is Australian) and two kids – Isla and Henry (who were born in Switzerland). My profile is here. If anyone wants to go for a ride, let me know! Rigs? Road is a Scott CR1 with Fulcrum Racing Zero wheels. Mountain is a Scott Scale 30 – hardtail all the way. City is still to be decided. The photo to the left is me arriving at Mt. Everest Base Camp (Tibet side) on mountain bike (the hardest ride I’ve ever done in my life).

I hope you like The Sufferfest and you find it to be the most exciting, motivational and rewarding time you spend on your indoor bike.
